Monday Musings 8.22.16

Another hectic week, busy, sweet, sad all mixed into one, with too much tiredness to explain. A quick overview: I went to the beach, got into Korean dramas, kept working on the hardwood, and am prepping for back to school. I go back on Saturday!

Current watchings…

Suits– I am watching the sixth season right now. Still unsure of what to think, though I do like the novelty of Mike’s situation in prison.

Oh My Venus – A friend recommended this to me and so far, I’m hooked! Oh my Venus is about a girl who gains weight as she gets older, so seeks out a personal trainer to help her lose the pounds. Eventually, they fall in love.

Current loves…

  • Winter melon
IMG_5617.jpg

Winter melon beginning to spring up as little fuzzy beans. They grow up to be around 20 or 30 pounds, so I hear. I’m pretty excited for what’s to come!

  • Also love this article from Miss Moss regarding what to buy from ASOS. It turns out I love her style, also its so much nicer when other people filter out your favorite clothes for you 😉

Current pictures…

from the beach trip – Cape Henlopen

Love how bright and happy the umbrellas are

Current intentions…

  • try and read some articles in the New York Times and keep up to date with the world
  • exercise around 30 minutes each day
  • spend around 30 minutes each day reading the Bible, praying, and doing devotionals

Monday Musings 8.15.2016

Apologies for missing a week, but the amount of stuff that I have had in general these past two weeks has been ridiculous. To sum it up shortly, I finished up my physics classes at UD on Friday, emceed at the Chinese Festival of Delaware on Saturday, and have been working straight since then on my family’s installation of hardwood upstairs. I also go back to school in less than two weeks, so I’m starting to organize myself and figure out what I need to bring and prepare for. Some highlights I suppose…

my favorite picture …

At Terrain at Styers, ga ga over their beautiful potted plants

Podcasts for later…

Gastropod – for all things food related

Come Reason – Christian apologetics!

Movies…

watched The Imitation Game – really good, Benedict Cumberbatch is the best and such a good celebration of the life of Alan Turing

want to watch When Harry Met Sally – am trying to get into good, old romantic comedies again

All things Chinese Festival!

IMG_5818IMG_5812IMG_5833

Such a good time emceeing for the first time (I’m the one in blue for all the pictures). It’s not one of my strong suits (being on stage), but I genuinely enjoyed it and had a good time with all the people. I also thought it was such a great way to give back to the Chinese community that I have been a part of for so many years.

Olympics!

  • my favorite sports to watch are swimming, gymnastics, and beach volleyball
  • you should check out the story behind Shang Chunsong if you have the chance
  • also, being from two different cultures, I’m blessed to always have a team to root for 🙂 go USA and go China! 🙂

Praying for …

  • me and Jason’s relationship
  • strength in installing hardwood
  • preparation for school

Monday Musings 8.1.16

And with that, we’re in August. I have one month left before I head back to school and it feels like summer has flown by. The tomatoes in my mother’s garden, however, have not taken notice, as they are just now beginning to ripen 🙂 Pretty little orange cherry tomatoes too! Other than that exciting news, its been the occasional hangout and more graduation parties. I’m looking forward to the end of my physics class and some time to enjoy myself at last.

Some randomness below 🙂

Reading…

HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD OMG OMG OMG OMG

My boyfriend preordered this book for me, and I just got it in the mail today. After looking at the reviews and steeling myself for what’s to come, I am so looking forward to reading it.

IMG_5278.JPG

Not reading necessarily, but I have been journalling lately in this absolutely beautiful notebook that someone gave me. Look how gorgeous!

Eating…

at Terrain at Styers again… so expensive!! I got the trout with spinach and my friends all got some variety of peach salad with mac and cheese. The location, however, is insanely beautiful.

Modern Family – for laughs

Monday Musings 7.25.16

Hello! Happy Monday to you 🙂 Did you know lemon is good for mosquito bite soothing and whitening skin?

This week has been sort of slow, but honestly, that’s how I like it. I like having time to myself to relax and to realign my goals, to allow for rest in the midst of socialization and events. The most I did was on Saturday, where I went and painted for my church, then went to a grad party, then went to a dinner party. I put down a couple pictures below of the happenings as well as some of my favorites, so if you would like to see, continue to scroll 🙂

Loving…

Romans 8:26-28 (NIV) on prayer

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.

Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV) on strength

A song of ascents.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

Pics of the week…

I only have one pic of the week because I only went outside to do something interesting once 😛  A ton of the Polaroid pics that we took at my friend Angela’s graduation party.

FullSizeRender 5.jpg

BUT I REALLY LIKE THIS OLD PIC, SO HERE IT IS ALSO…

Watching…

The Incredibles and Brooklyn!

Decided to watch The Incredibles with some friends over at my house because I hadn’t seen it in quite a while. Watching it this time, so many years later, I was struck by both how it seemed to weave in some incredibly tough topics such as marriage issues and the threat towards children and also produce such an engaging and heartwarming story.

static1.squarespace.jpg

Brooklyn, as well, was SO good. I watched it for the first time last week and to be honest, was a bit skeptical at first because I’m not a huge fan of period drama styles. But Saoirse Ronan blew me away and I loved the main character’s relationship with her man so much and brought me so many emotions and gah, so good. THIS PICTURE GIVES ME ALL THE FEELS (Would definitely recommend)

*pic taken from here*

Praying …

Sigh, so many prayer requests in my head that it is beginning to get difficult to keep track of them

  • praying for Jason and his relationship with Christ and his family
  • praying for Julie, for passion for God and for pride
  • praying for Hong, for pride and for compassion
  • praying for Natalie, for deeper understanding and truth in knowledge
  • praying for the English Ministry church and all its requests
  • praying for my family
  • praying for the world and for peace and love amidst all this violence

Enjoying…

Grad Parties! I had one last week, which I shared about, and I had another one this Saturday too. There was so much food and cute Polaroids and helium balloons 🙂 Some pics below…

Playing…

Was unsure about whether or not to include this, but why not… I confess I have been playing Pokemon Go quite addictively. Really nice for when you want to walk around and explore places and a great bonding experience, which also works when you are busy and you shouldn’t be playing games and you physically cannot play Pokemon Go because you are in the same place! Good job, Nintendo. You did good this time 🙂

Monday Musings 7.18.16

Hi hi hi sorry sorry sorry what’s up what’s up what’s up?!!

Goodness, I took a 2 week break from posting and it feels so weird coming back and pretending like nothing has happened. But many things have happened. And I have been thinking quite a lot about this blog. Thus, I thought why not combine this and make Mondays a scheduled time for me to talk about random things going on in my life? This would be sort of like weekly favorites, but also including random happenings or pretty pictures that I took during the week. And yes, I suppose Monday Musings does not fit super well but the alliteration! Gosh the alliteration, I’ll deal with the slight misnomer 😉

Anyways, to the juice…

Reading …

the sacred search – gary thomas

all about marriage and dating from a Christian perspective

crazy love – francis chan

what does it mean to be loved by God?

I’m reading the first one with a little accountability group. It’s cute and fun and I have never done something like this before, especially with girls in three different time zones, which is wild. I’m reading Crazy Love by myself and journaling. It’s been highly recommended and a huge Christian bestseller so I have huge expectations for it and am excited to get through it all. What’s interesting about these two books are that they were both gifted to me by two women that I admire so much in the Christian community. And especially Crazy Love, I had just been thinking about how much I wanted the book and that same day, she said that she wanted to give it away because she and her husband had finished reading it. Nuts right?

Enjoying …

(LOL only managed to get some cows but no ice cream) IMG_5142.JPG

Watching…

finding dory , central intelligence, legend of tarzan, alice through the looking glass

I have been watching so many movies this summer. Such a great way to hang out. Got to say, I think I liked Finding Dory and Legend of Tarzan the most. Finding Dory because I felt like the movie was just supposed to be liked. Obviously, it was super well known because of Finding Nemo, but they really brought out the acceptance of disabilities aspect and also the humor factor so much in this one that I really loved it. I also enjoyed Legend of Tarzan, but that may just have been because I think Margot Robbie is a beautiful woman and Alexander Skarsgard a handsome man.

Random pics that I love …

and flowers always 🙂

Have a good rest of the week 🙂 ❤

RANDOM PINS

1. Art on Old Book Paper

I don’t know why… but I FREAKING LOVE THIS. I think it just looks so charming and so quaint. Although I don’t really have any old books similar to this or any old books that I would destroy just for aesthetic appeal, it is just so beautiful. Maybe sometime at a garage sale, I’ll buy an old book and try to do a little art, drawing, etc. Frame it. Either way, the old book words and whatever colorful illustration you put onto it, in whatever composition, will look gorgeous.

2. Stand Up Pen

So apparently this is a stand up pen – iT DOESN’T LIE DOWN LIKE A NORMAL WRITING UTENSIL – it just goes there and exists and it looks super cool. Idk the functionality as that person commented in the pin, but I guess it might be better for organization? Either way, it is a pretty interesting invention.

3. Mug

I love mugs. I think they’re adorable – especially the ones with cute little sayings or cute little designs on them. This one, however, is different. It’s special… it’s got this geometric, paint-splattered white, almost vanilla ice cream kind of look to it. And that’s beautiful – not cute or adorable – but just so artistic and and unique.

Week 2/13/15

IMG_0007

I started my week off with a nice college interview at Starbucks. Unfortunately for me, the interviewer had to postpone the interview until later in the day – I received the notice only after I arrived. I took this lonely pic of my Cappuccino. I went back later in the day and ordered a Chai tea… pretty sure the cash register guy saw me again and was very confused lol

IMG_0020

Saturday, I went to the Tiger Invitational Science Olympiad. Loads of fun as always… also the first time I’ve placed in this competition! I placed 4th in Technical Problem Solving 🙂

IMG_0021

Later that night, it started snowing. I snapped this quick pic as we were trudging along on the highway.

IMG_0035

Next night, dinner party! We had a dinner party for Chinese New Year. Lots of Asians and a whole ton of food.

IMG_0040

We also watched the Croods – which if you haven’t seen it, is such a funny good-feel movie!

IMG_0046

More snow :/

It’s also snowing again right now – everything is covered.

Favorites

1. Andrew McMahon

I really like the pump up vibe of his music – whenever you need to be happy, just listen to it. Whenever I fall in love with one specific song, I will jam out on repeat.

2. Tab for a Cause

Tab for A Cause

You can download this app on whatever browser you use. Without any effort on your part, every time you open a new tab, it will play an ad and you will get a heart – these hearts can be donated to various organizations that are close to you – water, health, human rights, etc. The hearts are generated as ad revenue and it will be changed into money that gets donated. It’s a pretty innovative way of raising money. Right now, they have raised a total of $106,440.34, so please join because the more people that are on board, the more money that gets donated!

3. iPhone

Unknown

And I suppose this goes without saying, but I am pretty excited about my new iPhone. I find it so much easier to talk to people and to communicate – via email or Facebook…  I am still debating whether or not to get an instagram, but we’ll see. Hopefully I can use it to take more pictures to share to you all of all the exciting things in my life heh

Weekly Faves 6

1. Alex Currie Media

So I know of Alex Currie through a mutual friend, but basically, the guy’s amazingly talented. He’s a photographer and a cinematographer, has won national awards at film festivals, has been featured for Vogue Italia, one of the top photographers on flickr, etc. etc.. I stumbled across his Youtube Channel and was blown away by the subtle depths and beauty of his work, the urging questions and the thematic principles. I’m absolutely amazed by the fact that this guy is the same age as me and has had so many accomplishments thus far.

2. Catch 22

I’m reading Catch 22 in Lit class right now. At first I didn’t like it… but now, I’m astounded by Joseph Heller’s capabilities. He manages to link so many different themes in so many different ways, the intricacies, the inner themes, the complexities, the recurring repetiion, the circular logic, the humor, the Catch 22 – WOW.

3. Et Pourquoi pas Coline?

This is a French fashion blog. Unfortunately, I do not speak nor read French, so I simply just look at the pictures. I absolutely love the lady’s fashion sense though – it’s very elegant, classy, yet also very spunky and unique. This is definitely the style of clothing that I would wear and I draw a lot of inspiration for her. Plus, you can tell she puts a lot of effort into all of her blog posts and I think that really shows off.

Weekly Faves 5

Whew, coming back from a long hiatus.

Things I is liking right now…

1) Big Scarves

Photo on 11-23-14 at 8.57 PM #2

I like wrapping my scarves and then knotting them and fluffing them up. So warm and so comfy, especially during this season.

2) Yahoo Answers

Yeah, I’m going to admit it. Physics is so stinkin’ hard. But it’s really nice being able to find people who are willing to explain the problem to you. This is the only reason I survive physics.

3) Let the Waters Rise – Mikeschair

This song is so beautiful. It makes me want to sing.

4) THANKSGIVING

Because why not, it’s coming up soon. The word cornucopia got me a bonus point on a lit quiz too 😉 I’m ready for a much needed break … in order to do more college apps and study and catch up with work.
