RANDOM PINS

1. Art on Old Book Paper

I don’t know why… but I FREAKING LOVE THIS. I think it just looks so charming and so quaint. Although I don’t really have any old books similar to this or any old books that I would destroy just for aesthetic appeal, it is just so beautiful. Maybe sometime at a garage sale, I’ll buy an old book and try to do a little art, drawing, etc. Frame it. Either way, the old book words and whatever colorful illustration you put onto it, in whatever composition, will look gorgeous.

2. Stand Up Pen

So apparently this is a stand up pen – iT DOESN’T LIE DOWN LIKE A NORMAL WRITING UTENSIL – it just goes there and exists and it looks super cool. Idk the functionality as that person commented in the pin, but I guess it might be better for organization? Either way, it is a pretty interesting invention.

3. Mug

I love mugs. I think they’re adorable – especially the ones with cute little sayings or cute little designs on them. This one, however, is different. It’s special… it’s got this geometric, paint-splattered white, almost vanilla ice cream kind of look to it. And that’s beautiful – not cute or adorable – but just so artistic and and unique.

Random PINS

And yet another segment of random pins on Pinterest. I haven’t been going on Pinterest lately – mainly only when I’m bored – but I still have a couple more random posts that I still really like and want to share with you all!

1. Decorated bottles

I think this is just simply really beautiful. I love the look of the clear glasses and the white flower designs on it. I also think that it is something that you could easily do yourself – just purchase glass bottles and white paint and just do your own thing and any way you do it, it would probably turn out amazing. Also, it probably has tons of uses – putting plants, flowers, etc. or just plain using them for decoration. I’m definitely adding this to my to-do list!

2. Design

I love this image. And I think that’s why I’m so obsessed with design – the way they manage to smoothly incorporate such powerful ideas through just a simple manipulation – that’s art at it’s finest. I thought this one was particularly interesting for a telling message about obesity in America and the current issue about the guidelines towards purchasing soda drinks.

3. Hanger?

This is such a clever idea – use hangers to hang up your magazines rather than your clothes. This is such an industrial design maneuver… it’s fantastic. I think it would definitely make reading and organizing magazines more easier – I just need to actually have some magazines at my house to actually do this haha

Random PINS

or somethin’

1. Polka Dots and Maxi Dresses

This dress combines two of my favorite things ❤ ❤ ❤ polka dots and maxi dresses

I love a black background with white dots over it and the flowy maxi dress is a comfortable, yet stylish and fancy way to dress up or down.

2. Flats

Also obsessed with flats. I prefer function over fashion, yet flats allow you to do both at once. Obsessed.

Actually probably just obsessed with the items that I currently am missing in my wardrobe 😦

3. Messy Hairdos

Something that’s always on my mind – HAIR. I love the messy relaxed look of this. Of course people with blonde hair always look kinda better than people with darker hair and its messiness, I am still racing to try and do a lil’ something with my hair. Keeps up the interest!

Random PINS

Here it is again. Long overdue random new section of awesome random pins on my pinterest…

1. Labels

I’m obsessed with these. So clever and so organized 🙂

2. Cat Elbows

Like everything I put in my random pin page, this is quirky and interesting and different. You usually see hearts or circles or something on the pads of elbows if not at all, but I’ve never seen a cute cat design. I’ve been suffering from an unusual cat fondness recently and this caught my eye automatically.

3. Hangers

Just a little cute art. This obviously doesn’t have any real use in the world, but it’s a new way to look at something functional.

Random PINS

1. These Storage Holders

I don’t know what to think of these, except they are so stinkin’ cute. You could hold whatever bobble suits your fancy in these little yarn containers.

2.

I don’t know what this is. But it’s plants and modernity. So that’s beautiful.

3.

I would have put this in art, but it also looks like something that I might be able to do? Idk, either way, it’s ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE ❤

Random Pins

1. DIY Ornament

I am so obsessed with this idea. I have not quite figured it out yet though… what string to use? And how do you get it so curly? Do you use the glue first and then string?!?!?!?! Must research more because it looks BEAUTIFUL.

2. Paper Cutting

No stranger to paper cutting, this is such a beautiful way of art. However, it is incredibly complicated and this one example is not an easy task.

3. Coffee Shop

Kind of obsessed with this coffee shop. The gloomy but cozy feel, the dark, the interior, what a way to ponder thoughts and musings. Beautiful, so cute, and quaint. Can totally imagine myself here.

Random PINS

Ahhhhh my weekly segment of random pins….

For some reason, I haven’t found anything I’ve particularly liked on Pinterest so far for a while. I feel like a lot of the things are repeats of things before, so that’s been quite frustrating.

1. Watercolor Flowers

I love all watercolor art, but my favorite types are those of flowers. Added that it’s on an old book makes it look that much more unique and fascinating.

2. Obsessed with designs, hand lettering, quotes.

I love the intricate designs that a nice black pen can make as it incorporates these beautiful shapes and images to represent a profound quote. Possibly something I could do too???

3. Clever Flower Pot

Such a creative idea – hollowing out old magazines and stacking it and storing flowers or plants in it – such a cool idea that would be lovely in all types of rooms as decor.

Weekly Faves 2

1. SPENT

This is a website in which you virtually simulate being poor. Reading this… it kind of seems very offending, but the website, I think, gives you a nice over view of what those who are in poverty may be going through and a greater insight into what could have led to their troubles. You go into the website, you choose a low paying job – a waiter, a small administrator, etc. and then you have to go through a month without ending up with a balance of zero. However, you are faced with constant troubles and constant financial difficulties that come as a result of life – mother’s medication, death of dog, counselor meetings, kids, etc. After playing the game – which is actually really addicting, you understand the actions that those in poverty, who are desperate, have to make. At the end, it also asks you to donate $10 to Urban Ministries of Durham. I think it’s a good cause, so I’m definitely spreading the word about it ^_^

2. Mexican Rice Bowls!

I think it’s pretty obvious that everyone is in love with Chipotle. But not only is the food so delicious and so good, it’s also so healthy and so easy to make right in your own house! I love my Mexican rice bowls with avocados, chicken, lettuce, beans, etc. It’s your choice whatever you put into it and guh, so good 🙂

3. LIZ CLIMO

Hehe. I’m kind of obsessed with her absolutely adorable tumblr. She has all these cute characters in these comics responding to statements, topped with perfect drawings and clever puns. Check it out. Sooooo cute.

4. Listen to Our Hearts

I have always loved this song. It makes me so happy and so worship hyped. Not to mention it features one of my favorite artists, Tim Be Told.

A Sporadic Weekly Favorite

I am just trying this out for fun … I don’t know how it’ll go but we’ll see – which is why it is so aptly named “sporadic.”

1. Hillsong – Still

I always love going back to Hillsong United because they always have the most consistent, soothing, worship songs. Still is a somewhat old song, I believe, that my friend just recently suggested to me. I fell absolutely in love with it and the lyrics.

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know His power
In quietness and trust

In the stillness, in the quiet, worship God. Know Him a little better.

2. Tattoos on the Heart – Gregory Boyle

Tattoos on the Heart

I’ll probably write something more on this topic later… but basically, this book has absolutely touched my heart. Even though it gets kind of repetitive near the end, it has really resounded with me personally because of some of the work I was doing over the summer. Basically, I received an internship working with Latin American kids in a large, high crime rate, city near my home town. The book deals with Latin Americans and gangs in California. It’s also sort of a religious book and I think reading it really just drove me back to what I truly believe in and really allowed me to think and ponder about my faith and the issues of the world and society.

3. Jayesslee is BACK

Popular twin sisters on Youtube came back after over a year of leaving to take care of their two newly born babies! Even though they just had a small 20 second or so cover because of their crying children, I’m excited for what’s in store. I adore them.

4. Random PINS

Cute idea – decorating a wall with a coffee mug display that also serves as a wonderful storage idea.

Creative bow eyeliner idea – totally interesting… but totally not doable? ? Can’t even put on regular make up 😛

I love this… I don’t even know what this is called… but I think it’s so beautiful, so simple, so natural.

Watercolor Art

I’ve taken one watercolor art class at my school… and I absolutely loved it. There’s something so beautiful about its sporadic, spunky nature. The colors are surreal and intensified. In the shadows of wrinkles and the simple face of a person, there is always green and blue and white and red. Everything is based on structured masking tape so that the colors don’t run into certain areas… but other than that, it’s free for all. Spontaneity! The frustration of watercolor is in the fact that you can never decide how it looks or how you color it, so you may have to start over if you mess up, which can happen a lot. It’s also the part of watercolor that’s beautiful. You never know, and it may just turn into something greater than you could have ever imagined.

Now to the interesting stufff…. these watercolor works of art are just a couple of the ones I’ve been obsessed with lately on Pinterest!

sidenote: those comments at the bottom of each are not mine…. LOL
