I accidentally stumbled upon Jackie Wyers’ YouTube channel while looking up inspiration for prom looks. Still relatively unknown, I believe she deserves so much more attention than she currently is getting. Her skills with makeup and hair are incredible, particularly her celebrity makeup looks, which really mimic the real thing with more affordable products.
I think that if she increased the quality of her videos – not in terms of pixel amount, but rather by branding and by video editing, she could attract a lot more subscribers. Anyway, just a thought. Check her out!
JUBILEE PROJECT: BLIND DEVOTION
I cried so hard during this video, especially when it turned to the man’s perspective. You see… this is what happens between us and the Lord. He is always watching us, protecting us, even when though we are blind in every way possible. Although we might think everything in our life is wrong, we do not realize that we have Him, we have a devoted one so close to us, protecting us, comforting us, and always there for us.
I love Jubilee
Jenny and Tyler
I heard this song a really long time ago, during a violin culmination concert during which the violin players show off their other talents which include dancing and singing and other awesome hilarious acts. It was sung by a friend of mine and another girl. It’s a song by Jenny and Tyler who wrote this song in order to reveal the things that they have had to sacrifice for their relationship, but realizing that it was completely worth it in the end. Later on, I ended up seeing Jenny and Tyler in concert and they are truly vocally talented with such a presence and focus on God in both their marriage and in their songs. Definitely recommend checking them out. They have a sort of Indie, hipster, folk vibe and are most likely to be top on the list for iTunes for independent artists.
Another artist/band that I am obsessed with is Us the Duo.
You can check out their fantastic mashup of the most popular songs of 2014 here….
But on to one half of “Us the Duo” is Carissa Alvarado, whose fashion sense I absolutely love
Carissa knows how to dress for her skin tone. I love her use of earthy tones and colors – going for the off reds and whites, browns that match extremely well with her hair, the relaxed hippy kind of look with hats and comfortable shoes and dresses. She seems to wear with careful care, but with a comfortable understated look. It also helps that she is absolutely gorgeous! 🙂
You can see more of her amazing style on her Instagram – which I took the pictures from!
Whew, coming back from a long hiatus.
Things I is liking right now…
1) Big Scarves
I like wrapping my scarves and then knotting them and fluffing them up. So warm and so comfy, especially during this season.
2) Yahoo Answers
Yeah, I’m going to admit it. Physics is so stinkin’ hard. But it’s really nice being able to find people who are willing to explain the problem to you. This is the only reason I survive physics.
3) Let the Waters Rise – Mikeschair
This song is so beautiful. It makes me want to sing.
Because why not, it’s coming up soon. The word cornucopia got me a bonus point on a lit quiz too 😉 I’m ready for a much needed break … in order to do more college apps and study and catch up with work.
Panicking because I don’t do enough to actually have too many favorites each week HAHA
1. You are my strength – Hillsong Live
I am so so so obsessed with this song. It’s one of those songs that gives you a lot of chance for your own interpretation of the music.
I don’t know why… but I’d probably eat this three times a day if I could. Unfortunately, I am limited to perhaps one every two days or so. Costco brand of course.
3. The Salt Collective
My friend showed this website to me. It focuses a lot on interesting news and on faith. I’m looking forward to going through it.
This is a website in which you virtually simulate being poor. Reading this… it kind of seems very offending, but the website, I think, gives you a nice over view of what those who are in poverty may be going through and a greater insight into what could have led to their troubles. You go into the website, you choose a low paying job – a waiter, a small administrator, etc. and then you have to go through a month without ending up with a balance of zero. However, you are faced with constant troubles and constant financial difficulties that come as a result of life – mother’s medication, death of dog, counselor meetings, kids, etc. After playing the game – which is actually really addicting, you understand the actions that those in poverty, who are desperate, have to make. At the end, it also asks you to donate $10 to Urban Ministries of Durham. I think it’s a good cause, so I’m definitely spreading the word about it ^_^
2. Mexican Rice Bowls!
I think it’s pretty obvious that everyone is in love with Chipotle. But not only is the food so delicious and so good, it’s also so healthy and so easy to make right in your own house! I love my Mexican rice bowls with avocados, chicken, lettuce, beans, etc. It’s your choice whatever you put into it and guh, so good 🙂
3. LIZ CLIMO
Hehe. I’m kind of obsessed with her absolutely adorable tumblr. She has all these cute characters in these comics responding to statements, topped with perfect drawings and clever puns. Check it out. Sooooo cute.
4. Listen to Our Hearts
I have always loved this song. It makes me so happy and so worship hyped. Not to mention it features one of my favorite artists, Tim Be Told.
I am just trying this out for fun … I don’t know how it’ll go but we’ll see – which is why it is so aptly named “sporadic.”
1. Hillsong – Still
I always love going back to Hillsong United because they always have the most consistent, soothing, worship songs. Still is a somewhat old song, I believe, that my friend just recently suggested to me. I fell absolutely in love with it and the lyrics.
Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know His power
In quietness and trust
In the stillness, in the quiet, worship God. Know Him a little better.
2. Tattoos on the Heart – Gregory Boyle
I’ll probably write something more on this topic later… but basically, this book has absolutely touched my heart. Even though it gets kind of repetitive near the end, it has really resounded with me personally because of some of the work I was doing over the summer. Basically, I received an internship working with Latin American kids in a large, high crime rate, city near my home town. The book deals with Latin Americans and gangs in California. It’s also sort of a religious book and I think reading it really just drove me back to what I truly believe in and really allowed me to think and ponder about my faith and the issues of the world and society.
3. Jayesslee is BACK
Popular twin sisters on Youtube came back after over a year of leaving to take care of their two newly born babies! Even though they just had a small 20 second or so cover because of their crying children, I’m excited for what’s in store. I adore them.
4. Random PINS
Cute idea – decorating a wall with a coffee mug display that also serves as a wonderful storage idea.
Creative bow eyeliner idea – totally interesting… but totally not doable? ? Can’t even put on regular make up 😛
I love this… I don’t even know what this is called… but I think it’s so beautiful, so simple, so natural.
Sometimes you just need to step away from the stress and pressure and the excess reminders and just worship God. I love this twist to such a standard song.
Tim Be Told
I love their music and their devotion to God. Tim’s singing is phenomenal. They also have a blog Soul Endeavor that you can check out!
I’m not putting them as another Youtube channel because I have so much respect for the band that extends outside of Youtube.
Really, they are such an amazing band that really needs to get more recognition!
